wars in words. Krieg und Poesie. scrivere la guerra
€35.00
Wars in Words. Krieg und Poesie. Scrivere la Guerra explores the complex relationship between war and literature, questioning how art can represent and process themes such as violence and exile. The collection features the poems of Yevgeniy Breyger, a German-writing poet born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and Kholoud Charaf, a Syrian-born poet who writes in Arabic. Their works are presented in their original languages, with translations into German, Italian, and English.
The publication is part of the Cento series by FranzLAB edited by ZeLT, with a limited edition of 150 copies. It was produced using a risograph printing technique, giving it a unique, handcrafted quality. The creation of the book took place during the Tsamisdat workshop on November 30, 2024, at BASIS Vinschgau Venosta, which focused on how Western cultural and political perspectives can engage with current wars, including the war in Ukraine.
The poems in this collection reflect the personal and collective traumas of war, offering insights into the experiences of displacement, loss, and survival. Through these voices, Wars in Words challenges readers to reflect on the role of literature in engaging with global conflict and the ways in which art can contribute to understanding and processing such profound human experiences.
