Blauer Schnipsel

In this book, you will find the documentation for the Blauer Schnipsel project. This publication is intended as a dispositif to promote and replicate a format for workshops in which generative design meets social tailoring to transform the waste offcuts from the Blauer Schurz, the traditional apron of South Tyrol, into a decorative element.

The first three essays, supported by graphic and photographic material, describe the workshop and creative processes so that they may be reproduced.
They are followed by texts by Seçil Ugur Yavuz and Aart van Bezooijen, who contextualise the project within a design landscape linked to the practices of co-design and upcycling.
Finally, Barbara Stocker reviews the history of the Blauer Schurz within the tradition of South Tyrol.

The documentation of the project was written in German and Italian, as is natural in the context of South Tyrol, and translated into English to make the material accessible to an international audience.
